I wish I was a technician!  When are you going?

At the very least, after you are done being a “guinea pig” for this flight, I think it would be good for everyone to hear what happened in the end!

I will let everyone know how I make out for sure. 🙂 I leave the end of the week!

I do have another question though. I’ve done searches with no luck. Does anyone have a diagram of heavy power wheelchair and where the best places to lift the chair from would be.  For example: Would the four points that the tied downs use be strong enough? Can they lift from the bar at the back of the chair or under the seat?

I did see that directions say the frame…I’m sure they will know where exactly that is since I am not clear on that either .

Thank you all for your insights.

Usually the best option is the four anchoring hoops..

Hey, I’ve got a buddy who’s flown Southwest a bunch with his Pride Quantum (similar Edge model)—first time can be nerve-wracking, but they’re super accommodating.

No disassembly needed for that chair; it folds down to fit the cargo hold fine (under their 500 lb/45×34″ limits). Since it’s got dry-cell AGM batteries (not lithium), you skip the new removal policy that kicked in last month—just disconnect the power and cover the terminals at the gate, and they’ll tag/handle it from there.

She did the right thing notifying ahead; hit up Southwest’s disability desk at BOS (617-561-1800) a day before for the pre-check. SAT’s got good ramps too. Smooth sailing—tell her to breathe easy! Any other worries?
