Connect with travelers with disabilities and welcoming locals, offering tips on accessible hotels, wheelchair-friendly attractions, and transportation in South Africa. From Cape Town’s Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope to Kruger National Park’s wildlife safaris and Johannesburg’s Apartheid Museum, whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning to explore more, this is the place to ask about accommodations, getting around, or inclusive activities – someone here has likely experienced it before. You’ll find first-hand reviews, travel tips, and recommendations for cultural, historical, and nature experiences. This group welcomes wheelchair and mobility aid users, plus travelers with autism, sensory sensitivities, and low vision, helping you enjoy a more accessible South Africa adventure.
Reply To: Traveling between cities in South Africa in a wheelchair
Hi! I’m doing some research into all options and will revert shortly.
Those that come to mind off the top of my head:- Air travel between cities – flights between major cities would be accessible.
- Car Hire – with hand controls if you are able to drive, or a wheelchair accessible vehicle if a traveller doesn’t drive with a hand-control vehicle but has a companion to do the driving.
- Tour operators – scheduled tours
- Luxury Trains. They have set routes, dates and itineraries, so not for general city-to-city travel.
For more independent travel options, I’m doing some research, have started making contact and will revert soonest with an updated post if there are more options available.
