Go taxi
Is anyone familiar with if any of the Go taxis universal design can fit power chairs?
Josh Grisdale4 CommentsYes, it is possible. I do it in my Invacare power wheelchair.
Some things to note:
- you will need to face sideways (ie go in side door and not turn
- that will mean they fully lift the back bench and the only remaining seat is the passenger seat
- a large number of the drivers will not be experienced with power chairs and may need some convincing…

Japan accessibility questions
Hello everyone. You can call me Max. I am a T-2 Parra. I am very active and am planning a trip to Japan this fall. I have always loved Japan and finally decided not to put off the trip any longer, I must visit this year. I have been looking at accessibility options in Tokyo but I would also like to see Osaka and Kyoto. I plan on staying…
View more commentsHello Max, I’m an electric wheelchair user, and came 3 times to Japan, and go this summer to Hokkaido. I think the kind of rental you can find depends of your accessibility needs. It may be possible to find something to rent for long term I guess, but I know it is generally quite difficult for stranger to get a house or apartment to rent, even…

Thank you Stephane. I appreciate your feedback. I use a manual wheelchair. I am not very big so my chair is only about 23″ wide, But I am 6′ tall so I have long legs. My usual concern is the bathroom, shower particularly. I usually bring my travel bench on trips, even here in The USA accessibility can be a challenge. A house in Kyoto…

Roll in shower
Hello everyone, hoping I’ll be able to confirm Japanese hotels (Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka) with pictures (preferably) of any rooms with a roll-in shower? With “Heartfelt Rooms”, but with little or no confirmation. Kind regards, Steve, Australia.

Booking wheelchair seat on Shinkansen bullet train
I was on the official Smart-ex website to book train seats. There will be 3 of us – me in a wheelchair plus 2 companions. When I key in 3 adults and request a wheelchair accessible seat, it says I can’t do it for 3. I think it thinks I’m reserving 3 wheelchair seats. If I book 1 wheelchair seat for me, how do I book the other 2 to make sure…
View more commentsHi, my experience was that wheelchair seat cannot be booked online. There are only a few seats in train that are considered as wheelchair seats. If you can book wheelchair accessible seat online, please share the website. Many thanks.

You have to go through the system twice. Get the wheelchair seat first. Having done the trip several times you don’t get a lot of chances to see Fuji as it might be obscured by clouds and there’s a lot of noise barriers on the trackside not to mention tunnels which limit the view.
