Manual Wheelchair Hire
Hello, we are travelling the golden route in Japan, and I would like to rent a wheelchair for specific places, like in Tokyo and Kyoto. I don’t need it for the whole trip. Are there companies where I can just hire for a couple of days in certain places, without hiring for the full time we are there? Also do I need to book in advance or can I…
颯斗2 CommentsIf you come to Osaka for a visit, I can offer rental services for an electric wheelchair. The model is WHILL Model F.
Please note that at the moment, the wheelchair must be returned in Osaka and cannot be taken outside the city.
If you’re interested, feel free to contact me at 99louyu@gmail.com 🙂Hi! Thanks for your question 😊
In general, we recommend booking in advance, as it can be difficult to arrange a wheelchair on the day depending on availability.
Also, if your arrival and departure points are the same (for example, you’re staying in the same city and returning to the same place), it’s often easiest to rent for your full stay, so…
Use of portable "stadium seat" at event venues?
Our party of four adults will be visiting Japan in April 2026. My 75 year old mother has mobility issues and upright seating needs following back surgery. She can walk shorter distances with a cane, but will use a wheelchair or scooter for longer distances (we will rent something while in Japan). My question, however, is about seating… we…
Hello
Glad you are finding our site helpful.
While I have not seen something like this myself, I cannot see it being an issue. I found similar ones for home use
I know that @wilgo helps out a lot with people going to sumo and other events, perhaps he can comment?
Accessibility in restaurants
I’m an ambulatory wheelchair user – I can stand and walk with canes but steps and stairs are hard for me. Any tips for finding wheelchair accessible restaurants (aside from the info on Accessible Japan) and if a restaurant is too small to navigate with a wheelchair, it is ok/safe to leave my wheelchair outside the restaurant while I just use…
View more commentsSeveral site are able to search such as https://r.gnavi.co.jp/city/chiba/cwtav2860000/kods00180/rs/?character=KODS00181
And also restaurant search by google map have information about accessibility by wheelchair
I’m wheelchair friendly taxi near Narita airport, I could help to find restaurants following your requirements
As you saw the Accessible Japan info, I guess you saw how to filter for accessible options on Gurunavi. WheeLog is a great option for researching restaurants in your vicinity, but as it is crowdsourced it may not have a lot of places.
Tabelog released an English app recently. However, I can’t download it since it isn’t available in the App…

Luggage Transfer to & from Airport and Tokyo to Osaka
We arrive in March…has anyone used the Luggage Transfer service from airport to hotel/vice versa and between Tokyo and Osaka?
We arrive at 6pm and from the research I have done it seems that if we use the Luggage service we may not get our luggage till the next day? Is this correct?
Thanks
View more commentsHello. Yes, that is correct. It depends on the location, but generally, if you leave your luggage at that time, it will usually arrive the day after the next day, even in major cities.
Yeah from what I’ve been reading you have to be ok without that bag for 2 days. Just pack concisely and use a bag that is easy for you to carry or pull. Army roll your clothes so you can fit it all in one bag so you can keep all of your stuff handy. Unless you are going for two weeks or more and you have another bag to use for the first few days.

Hotel Accomodation in Tokyo
We are currently booked into Mimaru Tokyo Ikebukuro in an accessible accommodation that accommodates 3 people. Two adults and one child and we require a bathroom with roll in shower with chair or at least a bathroom that has a shower chair.
I feel this hotel may be too far out from the main hub of Tokyo…has anyone stayed here that can…
View more commentsIt really depends on your budget, but yes — we can definitely suggest other accessible hotels closer to the city centre (and we can also recommend options near major Shinkansen stations like Tokyo or Shinagawa if that’s more convenient).
If you share your approximate budget per night, your travel dates, and any must-haves (roll-in shower vs.…

Hello.☺️
That hotel may be a little inconvenient. Where do you consider the “city center” to be? What location is most important to you? I have a few ideas.
Can you tell me your budget per night?
BestRegards
Tak
