It’s a good intro for AMTRAK. AMTRAK is not regularly used by the general public here, so even fewer know about its accessibility. It’s ‘hit and miss’ on where it is used regularly. The US is trying to get more younger people to use it beyond as a commuter or East Coast train.

Agree with Carlos that AMTRAK is a bit hit and miss.
I am a part time manual wheelchair user so I can get around the train ok and the in room toilet works well enough. I had no trouble getting luggage assistance and getting some assistance getting onto the train (steps easier for me to climb), but I suspect that has a lot to do with the willingness of the staff.
Overall, some of the issues I saw pointed out on the comments to the article you posted could just be more of the general issues with AMTRAK rather than disability specific issues. And still, I like travelling by train much more than by plane… you just have to adjust your expectations a bit when it comes to AMTRAK.-
