    • Explore 3 fun, fascinating, and wheelchair-accessible spots that prove Romania’s capital is opening its doors to everyone:

✅ Grigore Antipa Museum of Natural History – One of Romania’s finest museums, where nature and science come alive! Visitors of all abilities can marvel at dinosaur skeletons and explore Romania’s ancient biodiversity. Since 2012, accessibility has been a top priority, with ramps, adapted restrooms, and a ground floor designed for wheelchair users. Sensory-friendly features make the experience even more inclusive.

✅ Herastrau Park – Once a marshy stretch of land, this 74-hectare green oasis was transformed in 1936 around the lakes of the Colentina River. Now the city’s largest and most popular park, it offers smooth, step-free paths, accessible restrooms, and boat rides. Located in a posh part of Bucharest and home to unique vegetation like Tagore’s oak, Herastrau is perfect for a relaxing day outdoors.

✅ Romanian Athenaeum – One of Europe’s most iconic concert halls and proud holder of the European Heritage Label (2024). Designed by French architect Albert Galleron, its heritage status limits structural changes, but a lift is available to assist guests with reduced mobility in reaching seats in the Grand Auditorium. Arriving 30 minutes early is recommended, and guests must be able to exit independently or with assistance in an emergency. Please note that overall, the Romonian Athenaeum, whilst manageable by some, is not well known for its accessibility.

Bucharest is moving toward greater inclusion—step by step, ramp by ramp. Come and experience it for yourself! 💙♿️

We enjoy posting regular updates there about Romania and accessible travel there, but we noticed just now that when posting in the Europe group, more people saw it! So.. allow us to be ‘concierge’, as @joshgrisdale mentions sometimes, and be your ‘Romanian specialist’ 😀 Our founder, Cristina, is also the Romanian expert for the European Commission’s #AccessibleEU project, so we’d love to connect and help share more information and resources with a wider audience! ❤🇷🇴
