• Big news for disability rights in Kenya! 🇰🇪♿️

Kenya has officially enacted the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025, a groundbreaking law that modernises our disability legislation to align with the Constitution and global best practices.

Here’s what this means in practice:
✅ Stronger protections: Universal access to education, healthcare, employment, transport, and digital platforms.
✅ Enforceable rights: Facilities must offer reasonable accommodation, and universal design is now the standard.
✅ Economic inclusion: Employers and businesses get tax incentives (up to 50%) for hiring and workplace adjustments.
✅ Representation: At least 5% of public service roles and market stalls must be reserved for persons with disabilities.
✅ Accountability: Hefty fines (up to KSh 2 million) or jail for those who violate these rights.
✅ Simplified certification: Permanent disability status now means no repeated assessments.
✅ Inclusive communication: Sign language, Braille, captions, and accessible media content are required.

This is more than just a legal change—it’s a transformative shift towards a rights-based and inclusive Kenya.
