Hi all ☺️
We’re driving from the UK to Italy soon, and were wondering if anyone has any information regarding accessible parking? Specifically, if we can use our UK Blue Badge there?
For France and Germany I was able to find a printout to display alongside our Blue Badge, but I can’t seem to find an equivalent for Italy 🇮🇹
Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏻

Hello! Eleonora here, it seems like very region in Italy has a bit of a different approach to accepting the Blue Badge https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/blue-badge-using-it-in-the-eu/using-a-blue-badge-in-the-european-union#using-your-blue-badge-in-europe
This is quite normal our regions are pretty anarchic 😃.
Which regions will you visit @AdventureWheels ? So I can check in the regional websites if they accept it for the parking.1-
@wheeltribe Ciao Eleonora, thank you for looking into this!
We are doing a tour of Northern Italy, so will be visiting many different places – Just to complicate things 😆
The main areas we will focus on are Lake Maggiore, Venice and The Dolomites (obviously we won’t be parking in Venice, but may visit places around it).

What do you mean with accessible parking? Where in Italy? Could you be more specific? I’m Italian living in Rome, maybe I can help
1-
@lore We are doing a tour of Northern Italy, so will be visiting many different places, but mostly Lake Maggiore, Venice and The Dolomites.
We were just wondering if there was a general rule about it, as I know a lot of EU countries accept our Blue Badge.

@AdventureWheels is it something like this Blue Badge? You can see the European stars on it and you can use it in any public accessible parking (the private ones have plate numbers) around Italy. I presume that in the new one after Brexit there are no more European stars but you can use it anyway because there are special agreements. I’m more concerned about restricted traffic zones.. do you know how to access?
1-
@Loredana Ah that’s good to know, thank you! Are the restricted traffic zones much of a problem?

@AdventureWheels you can enter the restricted traffic zones only if you register your car. For example I have my blue badge, I’m registered in Rome and I can go everywhere with my car. But if I travel to another city and enter the restricted traffic zone I get a fine. If you have a precise plan with places and days I could help you to register the car in those cities you visit. Otherwise you just don’t enter the restricted traffic zones and park in any accessible parking for disabled you find around.

So potentially:
Piemonte
Lombardia
Veneto
Friuli Venezia Giulia
Trentino Alto Adige
And the regions you pass to get there from France or Germany 😅
Well, I asked AI to figure it out, with the Deep Search option which is pretty reliable – and you have the links to the sources of the information. It’s a pdf I will try to share it in a chat message as here it does not seem possible. But the answer is yes, in those regions listed. One thing: you need to avoid the private disabled parking spots, whicha re the ones with a license plate written on them, but for the rest, park away 😀1-
@wheeltribe Ah, you are AMAZING! Thank you so much, that’s incredibly helpful! 💗 I will have a proper read through it later, as it appears to have a lot of additional useful information, but it’s great to have an answer. Thank you!
