  • Snowy Accessible Places?

I was wondering if there are any easy place in Japan to enjoy some snow that I could depart from Tokyo and enjoy nearby the station for 1 or 2 nights.

Is Sapporo accessible around this season?

    • I’m not sure Sapporo, but it is far from Tokyo.

      How about Niigata or Nagano.

      You may use Shinkansen.

      • Accessible hotels in Tokyo and Kyoto

Hi – I am new to Tabifolk so I’m not sure how to best navigate the site and I’m sure this has been discussed before. I am planning a trip to Tokyo and Kyoto in April (first-time visitor to Japan) and wanted to get recommendations for barrier-free/wheelchair accessible hotels in these cities that are located near the usual attractions.

        I am…

        • Hi and welcome to Tabifolk!

I’m based in Japan and run an accessible travel company, so I regularly help wheelchair users plan trips to Tokyo and Kyoto. I’d be very happy to share hotel suggestions or even help you with the arrangements if that would be useful.

For example, in Tokyo many of my guests like Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku, which has…

        • Hi

We have a growing list on Accessible Japan but hiring a travel agent can also help as even though a hotel has an accessible room, they may require you to book by calling instead of booking online…

Extra tip: sometimes the rooms are called “universal” or “barrier-free” and not “accessible”

A broken one-piece frame could mean the whole frame might need to be replaced. Your best bet might be to try a reseller/branch office if they do rental or can offer a fix, like Permobil PKK Japan who resell TiLite active chairs, or Japanese domestic wheelchair companies like TIG Titanium, Miki Mobility, MATSUNAGA. I’m not sure how English…

Good evening. I know someone at Wheelchair-rental.jp. They specialize in wheelchair rentals, but they also handle new and used wheelchairs. Their main area is Tokyo. Why not just send them an email? Wheelchair-Rental.jp
