We are in Japan right now (it’s our third time here). I think you will find many people in this community willing to help and the comments will give you some impressions of how highly accessible Japan is.
We have used @ohayotravel to arrange some transportation for us and they were extremely friendly and easy to work with. It is possible to travel via trains in a wheelchair here so as you progress in your research and find where you would like to visit many people here know the specifics of how to help get you there.
