I think you got some advice on the other things, but I would add:
Safety
Kabukicho is a red light / nightlife area, but as mentioned before there are many foreigners staying in nearby hotels and the police have patrols etc. So, unlike other countries, I think there is very little worry about random violence like mugging etc.
The more common thing is scamming people to enter establishments and then charging a lot of extra costs and making you pay the bill. However, doing so to a foreigner would bring unwanted attention so you are likely safe from that.
The other thing is that is where many people are drinking excessively, so even if they are not criminal etc, there may be rambunctious people around.
Restaurants
There are many but a lot of the ones in smaller buildings are often inaccessible. Department stores and hotels are a good option. Kabukicho Tower has a open dining floor where there are many restaurants you can buy from and a stage with entertainment as well.
