    Hello and welcome to tabifolk

I also have CP and use a power wheelchair and have moved to Japan, so it is possible!

    1. Where ever you get the helpers, you will need to pay out of pocket. There is a huge lack of helpers here, so it is likely best to bring them with you. Even when I moved here I had someone from Canada with me for about 6 months before getting into the care system here. You can possibly find some places that may offer some hours or days where they can help, but it would likely be irregular and paid out of pocket.
    2. For the US you can stay for up to 90 days without a visa I believe.
    3. There are some “apartment hotels” that have accessible rooms. A bit harder to find, but they do exist.
    4. There are a variety of accessible taxis, some are lift-equipped and would have no problems with power wheelchairs, others have ramps that can carry power wheelchair users but would depend on the size of the wheelchair (as there are many different types).
    5. These days for converting cash I’d say only bring a bit and then use your credit card/Apple Pay etc when buying things.

    Hope this helps!
