Reply To: Accessible Ways to get around during shore excursion in Sakata
Hi,
Like Sakaiminato, the port in Sakata also seems to be quite disconnected from public transportation. According to the Cruise Port Guide of Japan (put out by the government), both the closest train station and closest bus stop are 10 minutes by car. (http://www.mlit.go.jp/kankocho/cruise/detail/015/index.html)
The suggested tourist spots are also 10-60min by car: http://www.mlit.go.jp/kankocho/cruise/detail/015/documents/kanko.pdf
Sakata Station seems to be accessible: http://barrierfree.yamagatakanko.com/db/?data_id=10702
Again, it looks like an accessible taxi is your best option. Sakata Godo Taxi has an accessible van: http://sakatagodo.co.jp/nursing-taxi, [email protected]. But, I’m not sure of their English…
Hope this helps
