Moving with service dog to Japan

I’m going to be moving to Japan with my service dog. I’m aware Japan only considers mobility/guide/hearing service dogs as legit service dogs. Mine is neither of those. My question is – is it possible to fly her in as a service dog but when we arrive to Japan, she can just be treated/accepted as a non-service dog? I’m fine with her not being recognized as a service dog in Japan. Just wondering if it works the way I’m hoping it does.

    Thanks!

    Hello

Im not sure how possible that would be, but I certainly recommend reading this page and getting in touch with the organization listed there: https://www.accessible-japan.com/visiting-japan-with-a-service-or-guide-dog/

Any updates on this? I am quite curious as I am also hoping to move to Japan in the future but have a service dog that is not currently covered by Japanese laws. I am fine with her entering into retirement in Japan but would like to know if you have any updates for us through your personal experiences.
