    Hi All,

I am coming back to JPN for a holiday in JUN25, travelling out of Tokyo up to Sapporo by Shinkansen. My travel train trip date is a month out tomorrow (24JUN), which is when tickets become available, l know my target train departure time, l know that train is a HAYABUSA 19, I believe there is 2 or 4 wheelchair seats/spaces on each train. To my research l cannot book ahead a wheelchair Shinkansen seat on-line with any service (JR East eki-net or KLOOK). I believe l will need to purchase my ticket when l arrive in JPN 3days before train departure.

Do you guy’s think l will not be successful in purchasing this wheelie seat/space 3days out?

Any other idea’s as to how to reserve train journey beforehand from overseas (Aussie)?

I am in JPN for 90days travelling from top to bottom. I hope all other Shinkansen tickets will be easier as l will be in country & available to get all my train tickets locally.

    Thanks ~ Spider Hart

Contact Wheelchair Travel to get them to book the tickets. You cannot get them online. You can only get wheelchair reservations for the Tokyo to Hakata route through the online system.

      Thanks Maury,

You were correct in your advice. I made contact with “Wheelchair Travel Japan”

(Mikie) they were excellent. Got my Shinkansen & Ferry tickets that were were very difficult to get/organize outside of JPN from here in Australia. Fast & efficient service, very professional.

      Appreciate your help Maury.

Thank you so much! I jotted down your information, as my best friend and I are starting to make plans to visit Japan March/April 2026 for the first time.

Thank you so much Maury-san for your always kind messages!

    @spider Hi Spider Hart-san,

We are a travel agency specializing in wheelchair travel, but rather than for business purposes, we want to help all of you, so we will inform you honestly that

wheelchair seats (JR East Area) can now be purchased online on the Japanese-language Eki-net website.

Would you like to try booking in Japanese?

    https://www.eki-net.com/Personal/Top/Index

By the way, HAYABUSA 19 does not reach Sapporo (Hokkaido). It is best to choose another train bound for Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto!

Of course, we can also purchase your Shinkansen tickets in advance for all of Japan for you, so please feel free to request them if you wish.

Recently, wheelchair seats tend to be booked up quickly, so we highly recommend making your reservations as early as possible!

We wish you a wonderful trip in Japan!

      Hi Elieen,

I am comfortable in recommending “Wheelchair Travel Japan” as a very professional wheelchair travel agency located in Japan. My experience with enquiring & going thru the reservation/booking process for all types of tickets on the Japan side was easy & excellent service. https://wheelchair-travel.jp/
