Wheelchair accessible vehicles or taxis in Fukuoka and Otaru

    We are visiting Fukuoka and Otaru on a cruise in October. We would like to take part in some tours at both places, but we are having trouble finding some accessible transport. My husband uses an electric wheelchair that weighs 250kg including him. Can anyone advise of any taxi companies that have wheelchair vehicles with hoists or ramps that could accommodate his wheelchair?

    Many thanks, Mary

    I used MK taxi (with Ramp) in Fukuoka. You may need to judge if the car is big enough when luggages are loaded.

    @wheeltravel Hi Mary-san,

    We also often recommend MK Taxi in Fukuoka.

    However, their wheelchair-accessible vehicle, “Nissan SERENA”, has a wheelchair ramp load capacity of up to 200 kg.

    If your husband’s wheelchair weighs 250 kg, you will need to choose a “Toyota HIACE” wheelchair taxi, which is the only Japanese vehicle that can accommodate it.

    If you need to arrange a wheelchair taxi, please feel free to ask us via direct message.

    We hope you have a wonderful time in Japan!
