While in Barcelona I would like to take a day trip to Gerona for Jewish history but am having trouble finding a guide with accessibility experience. Since I will be alone, I either need transportation and a guide which would be prohibitively expensive, or be able to take the train and get a guide who can give me an accessible tour there. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I use a manual wheelchair.

Have you tried asking an accessible travel local agency? I know Mirijam of Disabled Accessible Travel, they are local and very good. They should have day trips too, and all that’s needed to get you there and back and have a great day out. I don’t know about prices, but that you can ask and if it’s above your budget, of course you can refuse. But if you buy directly from her, it will be cheaper than through Viator or other platforms, normally.

    Here is the website https://disabledaccessibletravel.com/

Let us know and enjoy your Spanish trip 🙂

I’ve been to Gerona and it’s definitely a great spot for exploring Jewish heritage. I agree with Eleonora that reaching out to a local accessible travel agency is a solid option, especially since you’ll be traveling solo with a manual wheelchair. Some guides can meet you at the train station and customize the tour based on your needs, which could help manage both accessibility and cost.

You might also want to check out https://gowithguide.com/spain they list local guides in Spain and you can often request a personalized tour. It’s worth messaging a few to ask about their experience with accessibility or if they can adapt the itinerary for you.
