We frequently share the highlights of Durban that are accessible to our guests, and we thought it would be beneficial to specifically explore wheelchair-accessible locations.
First up is the uShaka Marine World and Village Walk! Situated along Durban’s Golden Mile, the uShaka Marine World is a premier marine theme park and is home to a wide range of attractions, including an aquarium, water slides, and a beach. Visitors will find ramps, accessible pathways, accessible parking, and accessible toilets!
Next on our list is the Durban Botanic Gardens, a peaceful oasis right in the heart of the city. As Africa’s oldest surviving botanical garden, it offers not only an impressive variety of plant life but also smooth, level pathways that make exploring the grounds easy for wheelchair users. Shaded benches and thoughtfully placed accessible facilities throughout the gardens invite guests to relax and enjoy the natural beauty at their own pace.
Another standout is the Moses Mabhida Stadium. This striking architectural landmark isn’t just for sports fans, it’s also an excellent example of inclusive design. The SkyCar experience, which takes visitors to the top of the stadium’s arch, accommodates wheelchairs and rewards guests with panoramic views of the coastline. With elevators, ramps, and designated accessible seating throughout the venue, the stadium is a great spot for both adventure and leisurely sightseeing.
