Sounds like you won’t have problems finding them then. When you’re in the diaper section at the supermarket/drugstore, just look for the kg part on the label (screenshot attached for reference). No need for prescriptions. One pack usually has around 25-30 diapers. Hope this helps and safe travels to Japan!

Ditto to all Josh already said, but just want to add that the super big size diapers for kids are for children of up to 25-28kg, so depending on your kid’s weight, they could fit.
