Yeah, I used this a couple of times in Shinjuku and Ebisu.
When stations are under construction or restructuring it could be the only way to reach the platform.

Omg! I wish I could have used on one of these gadgets before I left Tokyo. I was so unlucky that I had problems with the elevators on the subways 2 times during my 6-day visit to Tokyo. Lived in Las Vegas for a while, although that was decades ago now, even back then it was easy to get around in a wheelchair and many attractions we very accessible (restaurants, shows, rides, fun themed areas/shops, etc.). I’ve been to Vegas and London.
The Vegas Strip is very accessible IF all the street elevators are working. If not, you have to zig-zag through the casinos to get anywhere. Getting a cab to/from the airport and Strip is very easy.
