This is horrifying – not only the risk of it happening, the risk of it happening and not being told. I had a similar incident where my back cushion was slashed and was told “it was already like that”.

If that happened to me, the cops would have to be called…on me. Those who’d broken my chair would find out that my muscles aren’t weak. Breaking my chair would be like if my legs were broken by someone else.

Not wishing to be insensitive to what I know if a physically demanding job of handling luggage, strollers and wheelchairs, it is very disappointing to see this kind of attitude. A wheelchair is a disabled person’s lifeline!

If it’s an American 3-prong plug, then you’ll need like what Jason recommended (or ask your wheelchair provider if they can get a 2-prong). However, if it’s an American 2-prong plug (like my charger), then you can just plug it in without a problem. If it’s other type of plugs then you’ll need an adapter.

A perfect example for why we should have wheelchair seating on planes. It’s a shame this had to happen to NJ though and on such a short domestic flight no less, they definitely deserve compensation (shame on United for even thinking of fighting the case).
