What do I need to charge my 11Ah lithium battery for my Pride Go Go Super Portable mobility scooter in Japan? What type of adapter and do I need a power inverter also? Appreciate your help so it will not damage the battery or cause a fire.
11 CommentsGood morning.
The photo you sent is a bit blurry so I can’t fully understand it. There are two pieces of information I would like to know. First, which country are you using it in? Or, what voltage is the country you live in? By the way, Japan is 100 volts. Therefore, if your country is 200 volts, you will need a transformer to charge it in Japan. However, very few hotels in Japan have them. And it is very heavy.
First of all, I would be grateful if you could answer my questions.
Best regards.
Tak
I am in Hawaii, USA. The charger has a 3 prong think you call it Type B. Here’s another photo of the lithium battery label. Hipe it’s clear this time. Thank you. I bought an adapter for Japan’s wall sockets but now not sure if it’s the correct type and if I also need an inverter.
Hi Tak, USA voltage is 120v
Apologize but photo blurry when uploading on tabifolk but photo clear on my iphone. Label reads: Rechargeable Li-ion battery, Rating: 25.6V 11.7Ah (299.52 Wh), Max. Charging current: 5A, Chemistry: LifePO4, Charging temperature range: 5-45°C, Model: BAT2302655, MFG: HI-FORTUNE. Thanks for your time and help.
Do you have information from the battery charger? It may say something like 100v-220v or just 120v.
Pic fine on iphone. Again blurry when uploading to tabitalk. It says 24V 3.5A
Spec sheet of mobility scooter charger:Input boltage 100-240vac +/-10%, Input frequency 50-60Hz, Battery capacity 7Ah-35Ah, Connector 3 pin
Spec sheet says it’s a universal voltage charger so no issues with using it in Japan. While you might have to ask your hotel for help finding a three pin outlet the power rating of the charger implies that you could use an adapter to a two pin outlet BUT you need to check on the rating of the adapter because a lot of the “international” ones are very low power.
Thanks Maury for your help. I had bought the Lecent 3 prong to 2 adapter plug travel power adapter US to Japan, Philippines Type A, cruise ship approved. 1875W max, 2 pk. To be used to plug in the mobility scooter’s lithium ion battery 3 prong plug into this Lecent adapter then into the Japan wall outlet. Just wanted to ensure correct adapter and no inverter needed since I am in the United States and here I just have to plug in the charger to the wall outlet.
