  • Naples, Italy

Will be taking a cruise in late spring and one of our ports will be Naples. Any guidance on how we might spend a day in the area separate from going to Pompeii? We are two travelers, one who uses a manual wheelchair.

    • Are you attempting Pompeii? We did Herculaneum instead. I was doable in a power chair. The viewing platforms and accessibility was excellent. Good luck…..otherwise just eat Pizza!!!

      • @Donna I wish we had gone to herculeum instead of! I was not using a wheelchair at the time but I am not sure Pompeii is easy on wheels. I remember the cobblestones being pretty uneven. The streets around Naples can probably be done in a wheelchair even if just to take in the views.

      • Any must do’s in Dubai and Abu Dhabi that are also wheelchair accessible? We are three adults traveling together in December.

        • I went there 2 year ago. It is 100% made for us wheelchair users (well is was built flat on a desert)

We visited the Burj Khalifa (tallest building in the world)

We had drinks at the top of the Burj Al Arab (worlds only 7* hotel))

The Dubai mall (they have an Olympic size ice rink which I went on)

Just outside the mall and Burj Khalifa is the man…

          • Has anyone traveled to Catalina Island and used a wheelchair?

            • Yes, I have, but it was over 10 years ago.

I use a power wheelchair. I went by myself. I left out of Long Beach, using CATALINA EXPRESS. I only stayed for the day. It’s hilly, but not too steep. I found it to be accessible. I was bored after a few hours, though. It ended up being a ‘been there, done that’ experience for me.
