    My wheelchair tires take 120 psi. Can I get them ‘topped up’ in Japan easily or should I bring my pump ? Gas stations, etc. in Canada only go to 100 psi.

    • I’m not sure what my tires take (I use an Invacare power wheelchair), and Japan uses kPA instead of PSI, but I have filled up my tires at bicycle shops many times here. They are very kind and do it for free. There are also tonnes of them, so you shouldn’t need to search very hard.

    • Assistance boarding trains

      Do I always need to have assistance when I get on a train ? I’ll be doing multiple transfers moving around Tokyo and Osaka with my family and can normally move on a train without problems.

      • No, if you can do it yourself, then that is fine. I know many people who don’t get assistance and ride around either by popping a wheelie themselves or having a companion do it.

        When you go through staff may ask but you can just say you are fine.

        • I normally travel with my husband so we do not require assistance from the staff. We just signal we are ok and it’s totally fine.
