Hi I’m Pete, I am a tetrapleagic full time manual wheelchair user,
I would like to stay in Egypt over Christmas for two weeks this year and I would be really grateful for some help and advice, I have some requirements and questions specifically,
I need a wheelchair accessible hotel and room with wheel in shower, electric profiling bed and wheeled shower chair,
I have been looking online but haven’t been able to find much information regarding equipment hire and a accessible room with wet room etc,
can anyone provide any help with this please?
thank you in advance
Pete
Geordie Travels4 CommentsHi Pete,
I’ve been doing a spot of digging and it seems that a few up-market hotels have good accessible rooms with amenities like roll-in showers. Perhaps you could investigate the following:
1. Savoy Hotel, Sharm El Sheikh
2. Mercure Le Sphinx, Cairo
3. Jaz Makadi Oasis Resort, Hurghada
The Mercure Le Sphinx, in particular, seems to have some additional amenities that can be hired, such as commode shower chairs, hoists, and scooters. See here for details: https://shorturl.at/1W900
As far as electric profiling beds go… I think you might be hard pressed to find stuff like that. I hope I am wrong, but I couldn’t see anything specifically, and going with my gut feeling, it’s not something I would expect to find at a hotel in Egypt. Is it essential for you? I would recommend contacting the Mercure Le Sphinx. If you would like additional help, I can put you in touch with an accessible travel agent with whom I work closely.
