Hello everyone,
We are going in Scotland through Edinburgh and Fort William for a very first fly for my kids 5/10yo over 5 days late October.
My boy has a Marfan’s syndrom and cannot walk long distances so he has a wheelchair I push/lift and stairs can be managed (we -slowly- got up into a lighthouse in France ~240 steps)
But no amusement attraction with high shaking because of heart mechanical valve)
I am not worrying about the fly but as our first steps in this region I wonder if someone as advices or accessibles spots to visit.
Also I donnot think asking for a blue badge is mandatory nor even how to ask for it, anyway we only have the car to join Fort William and come back the first 3 days.
It become hard to write through the application not well managing scrolling text so I will end here.
Thank you by advance !

Hi there,
Sounds like a lovely trip you’ve got planned! Just to set expectations — Fort William itself is a fairly ordinary town without a huge number of “things to do,” but the nature around it is absolutely spectacular. You’ll be right by Ben Nevis, and the Nevis Range gondola is wheelchair-friendly and gives you amazing views. A wander along Neptune’s Staircase on the canal is also easy and scenic.
Edinburgh has loads more options. Edinburgh Zoo is one of my favourites (great for kids, though it is hilly — the accessible routes help). The National Museum of Scotland is brilliant and very accessible, and Dynamic Earth is another hands-on, family-friendly choice. The Botanic Garden is step-free and lovely if the weather’s kind, and even Edinburgh Castle can be managed with their mobility vehicle up to the top.
Euan’s Guide has good, detailed reviews of all these spots if you want to dig a bit deeper before you go.
Hope that helps — I’m sure your kids will have a fantastic time!3
