      • Discount tickets are sold only to those with disability certificates issued under Japanese laws. So I think it is risky to purchase this ticket. For each exhibit, the staff may be flexible and you might be treated same as the people with Japanese disability documents, but it would be situational and judgemental. Sorry it may not be so helpful..

      • Do you know where my family and I can receive a full body medical checkup (blood test, physical exam including x-ray, echo, ultrasound, etc.) in the Yokohama or Tokyo area? I am in a wheelchair, but I can transfer to an examination table with a little assistance. Thank you for your help!

      • Shibuya wheelchair accessible restaurant?

I would like to book somewhere for five of us in order to make our first night in Tokyo as easy as possible. Somewhere with great local food! All recommendations welcome. Thank you.

Is there any particular thing you would like to eat? Just one person in a wheelchair?

I’m visiting Japan with some family members in mid October this year and I’m feeling very unsure about it. I can’t walk but will be renting a WHILL model F for the duration of the trip because my mobility is limited due to almost lifelong rheumatoid arthritis.. The holiday is now fully paid for so no possibility of cancelling.

        • Ruth my husband (power wheelchair user) and I visited Japan for 2 weeks last November.

The most significant problem we faced was finding accessible restaurants. Other than that most of what we found was accessible.

Somewhere on this site someone posted a list of accessible restaurants in Tokyo that would be helpful for you

          We have gotten used…

          • I use a power wheelchair and have lived in Japan for almost 20 years. You certainly can! Sure there are many stairs, but nearly always an alternative accessible route. People saying that are just using the non-accessible routes so just see those. Don’t worry!
