We visited Hakuba as a day-trip from Matsumoto mid-October for some fall colors and were not disappointed! Train to Hakuba was 1 hr (1.5 hr if not express), allowed an extra 15 minutes to get a ramp / “ramp-u”, which was quick and easy. I agree. I only used the hoist for him in the bathroom and didn’t notice if the legs would go under the bed. Sorry not to be more of more help.

Thank you for the tip! We will look into this option, the bathroom looks perfect to transfer on to a shower chair. Judging by the contract fee it looks like a longer term rental.
