Technical Problem with my Power wheelchair
I need help. My power wheelchair, from Alber e-motio M25 are broken, and I urgently need a repair. I can’t reach Alber in Tokyo. I’m stuck in my hotel in Tokyo and can’t use my power wheelchair anymore.
I urgently need someone who can repair my wheelchair.
Does anyone know of a wheelchair repair service?

I just asked AI and it has come up with this:
Good news — there are Tokyo-based repair options that handle specialized power‑assist wheels like the Alber e‑motion. The most reliable match from current data is a highly rated medical mobility workshop in Sumida, plus I can guide you on how to get official Alber support in Japan.

Onsen/Pools in Japan AND Universal Studios Tokyo
Hi
I am the beginning of planning a trip to Japan in October. I am a MWC user and able to ambulate minimally (e.g. self transfer, could use a shower chair in a bath, take a few steps with solid surfaces to hold onto).
What is the best way to search for any accessible onsens, and those that are able to be privately booked? I will be travelling…
View more commentsHello, I can help you.
But what is MWC?
Thank you.

First of all onsen will be difficult. In general they are always separated between men and women in the main baths so your only option would be an onsen that has what would be called a private bath or sometimes a family bath. That is one you borrow and you’re the only ones in there. However you’ll need to make sure it will be accessible as… Read more

Shower Commode
Hi
is it possible to rent a bathroom commode that goes over a toilet or is it best to bring our own travel one ?
Thanks all
Just to confirm, by commode, do you mean one with wheels and a hole in the seat for using the toilet as well? (sorry for being direct!) Or a shower chair?
Most hotels have a shower chair* so that should be fine. However, for a commode with toilet functionality, the hotels ones and rental companies generally don’t rent them for hygienic reasons.…
Basically no, they don’t rent. I ordered a basic one from Amazon JP for 17,000 yen ($160 Canadian) and shipped to my wife’s sister place, but you can have it shipped to a Hotel, just need address. You’ll have to enter in the Japanese postal code (7 digits- 000-0000) or Amazon will default to what can be shipped to your country.

Hotels in Shinjuku or Sibuya
I am looking for hotels that offer roll in shower or accessible bathroom for a wheelchair bound person. I have been looking at some from accessible-Japan website, but I am unable to find the accessible rooms when booking
View more comments(my name is Alejandra too!) Others may chime in here as well, but this is an issue not just in Japan. A hotel has accessible rooms available, but it’s not always easy to book the accessible room. My approach, if their website does not have a listing to book the specific accessible room is to contact the hotel directly (some may have an…

I am currently doing the exact same thing. Hotels.com, Booking.com, Trivago and Agoda all require you book a room before you can contact the facility to verify that one of their accessible rooms is available. I am currently waiting for 3 refunds because they don’t REALLY have accessible rooms, just an accessible building. I finally booked with…

Wheelchair charger compatibility
Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone here might have experience with this.
I’ll be traveling to Japan soon and I use a Permobil power wheelchair (M Corpus VS) that runs on two 12V AGM batteries (24V system). My current charger is the standard Permobil charger labeled 120V / 50–60Hz / ~340W input, 24V / 10A output.
As I’m preparing for the trip, I…
View more commentsI contacted the manufacturer of my chair before going. I have a Whill C2 with a two-prong plug that I use at home in the U.S., which worked fine in the Japanese outlets. I know that’s a different setup, but I found that the manufacturer had accurate advice.
Thank you. I called US Permobil, they were a little clueless and asked if I asked AI.
