I’ve heard renting/hiring a wheelchair is the best option in Japan. However, I heard wheelchairs are delivered to the hotel. I need the wheelchair immediately to get around the airport and to be able to ride on a train to my hotel. Is there a way to get it at the airport?
Also, I need to rent in Tokyo and return in Osaka…. is that possible?

Why don’t you bring wheelchair from US/wherever place you come from? In my opinion that will a lot easier.

Looking to take it slow and enjoying some local food? Here are some local neighborhoods you might want to check out in Tokyo.
Some of the stores might be a bit tight for those in wheelchairs, but many sell their wares directly to customers on the street.

If you are referring to a Japanese Government Disability ID, you cannot get one without Residence status in Japan (visiting on holiday as a foreigner does not qualify for this status). Hi everyone. I am planning a trip to Japan for June 2025. I am trying to figure what brand of wheelchair to buy and bring with me. Either that or rent one there, if there are more benefits to that.
By the way, I can walk a little bit and walk up and down steps if needed. My son and brother will be there to carry my wheelchair down steps if…
