What is the etiquette or rule for boarding a bus in Kyoto? Wait in line? Or wait near the front so the driver board the wheelchair first?
I’m currently in Kyoto and want to visit many of the temples and touristy spots. I’ve read the articles on Accessible Japan and it recommended taking the bus at Kyoto Station to avoid the crowd mid transfer.

While I’d prefer accessible seating to be integrated with regular seating, at least the Chigasaki Southern Beach Fireworks wheelchair seating has a good view and accessible toilet!
I recently travelled to St. Helena, California and the public (street) toilet was amazingly accessible. Automated doors, bars and it even played music! I couldn’t believe I would have found that in such a small town and now I really wish I had snapped a few photos to show you guys. 🙁

Hi,
We are looking for a private guide\tour in Tokyo on the 24th-25th of October 2023.
We are a couple (70 ys.) and I use a small mobility scooter and walk with crutches (short distances),
We’ll stay in Tokyo after finishing a cruise and before flying back home and would like to get some advice and guidance for these days.
Thank you
Dalia and Amir Tomer,
View more commentsI too am traveling around Japan using a mobility scooter and I emailed a few tour operators but none have responded yet. So please share your findings- we will be in Tokyo a month later. Thanks

Hi Everyone, My sister and I are traveling to Tokyo towards end of October. I’m wondering if anyone knows where I can find a map of where the elevators are at Shibuya Station… We are staying right near there and have mobility issues.
Thanks
