  • Maryland and Washington DC

Hi. I live in Maryland, between Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington DC. If you have questions about accessibility for most tourist attractions, I think I can guide you. I have lived in the area for 55 years so I have been around!

    • I would love to know all about Maryland. Could you possibly tell me your top 3 accessible places to visit there?

    • Orchid Festival at Kew Gardens

My Support Worker and I visited the Orchid Festival at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew on Friday, and it was magnificent. The displays inside the Princess of Wales Conservatory were stunning, with beautiful orchids, detailed jungle scenes, and a tribute to the Year of the Horse. They of course, had pandas, sea monkeys

      • They’re all great, but the monkeys are my favourite 🐒

        • I have such fond memories of this place! I used to go every year when I lived nearby. I was not yet using a wheelchair then, but even with my cane there were plenty of places to sit and admire the beautiful displays. Thanks for the wonderful photos!

      • what if ... damaged wheelchair

        Hi everybody,

I was just asking myself about a situation that may happen, after my last problem flying with Air France last year.

What can I do if my electric wheelchair is damaged during the flight from Paris to Tokyo, and I find my wheelchair not working when I get it back after the flight ?

Do you know if there is any procedure or service I…

        • Greetings,

I had that happen with Westjet. The airline is responsible, so it is important not to leave the airport until everything is rectified to your satisfaction. Sidenote, I actually had one of their mechanics try to argue that it must have not worked when we boarded the plane, because they could not have damaged it. [Sir, how do you think…

From my experience, it is a user-first company and would be happy to help users who are stuck overseas and need help with their chair if they have staff available. Contact page just in case you need it, but hopefully you don’t! https://www.permobil.com/ja-jp/連絡先

        • Savill Gardens

We went to the Savill Gardens to have High Tea last month. We were met and taken to our table by a wonderful Maitre’ D. We all had the wonderful High Tea, which consisted of any type of loose-leaf tea. We each had a three-tier tray of sweet items at the top, savoury next down, and Earl Grey-infused scones with clotted cream and jam on…
