    Hi there

Im heading to Japan with my sister in May and would love to take her to the Fushima Inari Tori gates. I know that not all of the Tori gates are accessible so we would only see a few. Where my confusion is, Accessible Japan advises that

    a. There is an elevator that will take you to the start of the gates

    b. Get there early before 9am…

    • Hello. ☺️

The elevator at Fushimi Inari Shrine is available until 4 PM. You must use the elevator to reach the torii gates. You can pass through the main torii gate, so you can enjoy the experience without having to see all of them.

      Best Regards.

      Tak

      • Thank you

we wanted to go early in the morning at 7am so that there are less people

if the only way is with the elevator we will have to go later

      • Traveling with a companion - what's the hardest part to coordinate?

Planning a trip with a travel companion adds a whole layer of logistics that doesn’t come up much. Things like who pushes the chair vs. who handles the luggage, how you split up tasks at the airport, or figuring out hotel rooms that work for two people when one needs specific accessibility features.

And then there’s the money side – if…

        • Whenever I travel with a companion, I always pay for their airfare, accommodation and food and drink, as they are an essential part of my ability to travel (I’m a wheelchair user who likes to be as independent as possible, but I know I can’t do everything myself, sadly 😥)
