Hi friends. Has anyone gone to Osaka world Expo yet?
I am booking a ticket, and it has the option for a disability discount ticket, which seems to be the only way to allow me to reserve wheelchair accessible reservations for the pavilions. However, this disability ticket requires showing a disability certificates at the entrance. The website lists some Japanese-specific disability certificates, but doesn’t mention whether they accept international ones.Does anyone have experience with showing an international disability certificate at the Osaka world expo?
I’m planning on showing my blue California disabled parking placard (the one you hang on the rear-view mirror).
Josh Grisdale5 Comments@ohayotravel has been and can maybe comment, but at the same time you may also want to read this – https://www.accessible-japan.com/japan-disability-discounts/ – as it may follow the same pattern…
1Sorry but I am not sure if it works. They may accept or they may reject. I have some aquaintance working there for people with accsessibility needs. If I get some information, I will post that here..
2I always showed the european disability card and they accepted it everywhere.. maybe in United States there is something similar you can obtain..
1@rantoaca I just called the official contact center and was told that special discounts are available even for disability certificates issued in countries other than Japan. (They said it was okay to share this as their official policy.)
However, if the certificate is not immediately recognizable as a disability certificate, it may take time to verify, or in some cases, it may not be accepted. Therefore, I recommend bringing an official certificate with you, as suggested in the article shared by Josh-san.
Please enjoy the Expo!
1Thanks for all the replies!!
And thanks wtj for calling them, that’s a big relief for me 🙂1
