What is a disability certificate? I am planning on going to TeamLab Borderless (Azabudai Hills) in November and want to take advantage of the discounted rate for Visitors with Disabilities. See below: [Official] teamLab Borderless TOKYO, Azabudai Hills
“・Visitors with a disability certificate:
- Discounted tickets are available for holders of a disability certificate, along with one accompanying person.
- The disability certificate will be requested at the entrance gate, so please make sure that the accompanying person enters at the same time.
- The disability certificate can be issued by any country.”
If my country doesn’t have a disability certificate, can my doctor write a letter instead, attesting to my physical disability? I am in a wheelchair. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

In Japan, we have little passport/IDs to verify disability. One thing they are used for is discounts at certain places.

If you have something similar in your country you may be able to get a discount, but it can depend on the place and the staff

I went earlier this year with my daughter who is in a wheelchair and they didn’t want anything. Basically my advice is book the tickets and if you have a hidden disability carry some form of document which shows it. They will use Google translate if needed. If your disability is obvious you won’t have an issue. There’s one room you can’t visit in a wheelchair but you will be given a tablet with a map of the installation. Quite frankly it’s not very helpful for navigation but is useful for checking off that you haven’t missed anything.
