While public transportation slowly gets better at accessibility, I had hopes for ride sharing services like Uber and Lyft to offer accessible vehicles, but after reading this depressing article, it seems not so much…

In Japan, ride sharing isn’t allowed but the taxi companies have released apps to basically offer the same service and some of them let you choose an accessible option. But it was always my hope that when traveling I could use Uber WAVs to get around in a pinch…

What has your experience been like? Do you have WAVs that can be summoned with an app where you live?

WAVs are a joke here in LA/OC. There are too few of them and they’re not always available. I don’t even bother with them. I use public and paratransit, instead.

I wonder if there are any places it is actually good…
