    Greetings.

I’ll be traveling to Denver from Japan tomorrow. I am wondering if anyone has ridden the train from the airport to the city? I will be traveling with my colleague who has cerebral palsy. She has some difficulties walking. Just wondering what challenges travelling on that train might present. Might it be better to take the shuttle? Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks very much,

    Hey,

Never taken either, but I feel the train may be a slight bit easier (provided you get a seat).  According to the website, it has no step at the platform whereas a shuttle bus would have at least the step into the bas itself.

    Keep us posted!

According to the Fly Denver website

Escalators and elevators can be used to descend to the train stations. Elevators are located in the terminal’s two security-screening areas and in the central areas of all concourses.

And the Denver website says that

DEN Shuttle buses with wheelchair lifts operate between the outlying car parks and the terminal

So… it seems the shuttles, while accessible, will only get you to the car parks, not into Denver itself.  I guess the train is best.

I believe that @twoboysmom00 is near that area and can maybe add some info?

Im native from Colorado, Im DeafBlind traveler. Denver Airport is easily to access to everywhere. As long you request for assistance when you landed to US soil. Once you’re in US soil you still have own right due of your disability. Please check RTD website as well where they have transportation as light rail from Airport to City Centre (Downtown Denver) or Union Station. Here is the link http://www.rtd-denver.com and http://www.flydenver.com that might cover your info that you needed. Safe travel and dress warm! Im currently traveling in Japan right now.

    Thank you, kind people.

Arriving in Denver and then catching the train into the city was one of the most pleasant, hassle-free experiences I have had traveling in the US.

We caught the escalator down to the station so I can’t speak for the elevators. It was all very smooth apart from a few cracks on the pavement near the ticketing machines. My colleague (with cerebral palsy) and I had no trouble getting on the train with our luggage – it is almost completely flat from platform to train – and there were enough seats to go round. It may take some negotiating with luggage if you have a lot because the cages and areas are not huge – I’d say adequate – and the guard was asking some people to not block the aisle with luggage. Fair enough. But there was still enough space to accommodate it all.

    The train ride was smooth.

Thank you all again for your information and tips.

Best wishes and happy, safe travels!

    Ben
