  • First-time solo trip to Kyoto + Ine (mobility scooter & slow travel tips)

    Hi everyone 👋

I’m planning my first solo trip to Japan and I would love some advice.
I can walk short distances, but I sometimes need help for longer walking days, so I’m exploring a slow-travel plan in Kyoto and Ine (fishing village).

I can usually walk, but I’m planning to rent a mobility scooter just in case, and I’m also interested in having a…

    • I believe @joanp went to Ine, correct?

      • Hello, regarding the scooter, please consider using the JOY Cart.

        https://noaa.bizrent.biz/
It will be delivered to your hotel before your rental start date, so you can use it comfortably without any inconvenience.

If you are flying into Kansai International Airport and going to Kyoto, you can also rent a cart from ANA MoVA.<br… Read more

      • Celebrity Cruise

Hi there! I am not mobility challenged, but my future BIL is. He is a paraplegic in an electric wheelchair. We are looking at doing a cruise to Alaska for our wedding, and I’m trying to find out if Celebrity is a good, mobility friendly cruise line. I BELIEVE the ship would be the Celebrity Edge, which I think is the Ocean line? I’m new…

        • Hi –

I have multiple sclerosis and need to use a scooter to get around. My wife and I did a land/sea Alaska cruise several years ago on Princess and they were great. A lift was used to get me on and off the very comfortable train, which took us from Anchorage to Denali Park. A two days later we continued on it to the dock in Whittier. The train…

          • Mastumoto trip report Fall 2025

We enjoyed a great fall day in Matsumoto; started out with a 30-minute train journey north to Hotaka Station (Azumino), then walked about 3 kilometers with friend in foldable wheelchair to the Daio Wasabi farms. The last kilometer was on a narrow road without sidewalk, but bikes frequent the route so cars are used to seeing and…

          • Hakuba (Japan Alps) trip report Fall 2025

We visited Hakuba as a day-trip from Matsumoto mid-October for some fall colors and were not disappointed! Train to Hakuba was 1 hr (1.5 hr if not express), allowed an extra 15 minutes to get a ramp / “ramp-u”, which was quick and easy. From Hakuba station, a taxi loaded up the 3 of us with a foldable wheelchair (thanks to bungee cords in…

            Hi,

I just returned from 3 weeks in Japan and I used Mr Kuniyasu from Ohayo Travel Corporation to organise our holiday.

We traveled from Sydney Australia and visited Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara for a day trip, Hiroshima and Takamatsu to visit Naoshima art Island.

I’m in power wheelchair (Magic Mobility 360) and I traveled with my wife and 2…
