Repair wheelchair
Hej Hello, we arrived in Japan for 10+ days ago and my father’s wheelchair couldn’t handle all the bumps from the road so I wonder where we can repair the rear wheels or buy some new parts? We are currently staying in Umeda, Osaka.
颯斗 and Josh Grisdale3 CommentsView more commentsHi! I’m not sure whether we can repair your father’s wheelchair directly, but I can introduce places in Osaka where you may be able to rent a wheelchair or buy replacement parts / a new wheelchair.
If you need help, please feel free to contact me at: flatcare2025@gmail.com
Hi
What type of wheelchair? Likely @tak is your best option for getting connected in Osaka. There is also https://www.ngt-k.com/en/ in Osaka.
If it is just tightening some screws/bolts, or even patching a tire, often bicycle shops are kind enough to do little things.

Japan group tour question
Hi everyone. Husband and I have FINALLY decided to go to Japan in November 2026. We’ve been wanting to go for our 30 years of married life but we have always said “yeah we’ll do that trip later”. Later is now.😊. I am an above knee amputee since 2020 with limited mobility. I get fatigued after walking with my cane for long distances. Costco…
Glad to hear you decided to come!
I haven’t been on any of TokudAw’s trips but have worked with them for a long time and Wanping is great. (Though note they only do the tour part, so if you want a company that can do accessible room bookings you may need to find another one… but you are likely fine without I’m guessing.)
If the wheelchair is…
@Josh Grisdale thanks for this information. Would you happen to know of an accessible group tour company that takes care of everything…hotel reservations, meals, day tours etc. Going this route would be less stressful for us. As far as electric wheelchair rentals in Japan, are they made smaller to be more accommodating?? Or ?? I don’t…

Gundam base
I’m a huge Gundam and Guampla Fan. And I would like to go to the Gundam base has anybody ever been and do you know if it’s pretty accessible or not?
Accessible Japan site mentioned as below. The statue is a 5-10 minute walk from the fully accessible Daiba Station on the Yurikamome Line, next to the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza shopping mall.
You can easily approach the statue in a wheelchair, and see it from all angles.
1We took our client to there on the other day. It’s no problem to go through everywhere inside of the store with wheelchairs.
Please watch our video on YouTube, it shows the inside of the store.

Not sure where to start
Hi, we are thinking of doing a family trip in the future to Japan but my daughter who has a condition that affects her legs will not cope with walking all the time, meaning that she is going to need some kind of mobility device – preferably electric – to help her get around. I’m overwhelmed and don’t know where to start with planning a trip or…
View more commentsHi Marni,
I have MS and have difficulty walking extended distances. Before I went to Japan with my family, I ended up buying a used, battery-powered, Pride GoGo three-wheel mobility scooter. It worked out great! I was easily able to navigate around multiple cities and hotels. We are located in Portland, OR, USA.
You can read about my experience…
1Hi!
It is possible to rent wheelchairs or scooters to use in Japan, but I have only seen adult-sized ones. May I ask how old your daughter is?

Public transportation in Tokyo and Kyoto
I am a wheelchair user and will visit Japan for the first time in April (so it’ll be busy season). How accessible are buses and subways in Tokyo and Kyoto; how easy is it to get around using public transportation instead of using taxis? Are there apps I should download and use for both public transportation and for taxis?
View more commentsGood to hear visiting Japan.
About transportation by train, Accessible Japan site mentioned.
So pls check it.
Many travelers who use wheelchair visit Japan.
Normally they use electric wheelchair.
They use google maps for select transportation methods.
They said sometime difficult to find elevator, so they need to walk for finding.
Some normal Taxi…
I was in Japan last April. Public transportation is good with a wheelchair. Some stations are huge and the most difficult part is knowing where to go. Public taxis usually have a ramp to get on but spaces are limited so you have to check in before and many many many taxi drivers are not used to use the ramp so they seem uncomfortable and…
