Hi, I was thinking about travelling to Japan sometime soon with my Dad and I’ve run into a pretty big hurdle in the process. I have Muscular Dystrophy and to use the bathroom I can’t really use the toilet for number 2 without some kind of commode or something similar to sit on. Has anyone else ever had this problem and did you find a solution?
Josh Grisdale2 CommentsHey!
Unfortunately rental companies here are unlikely to rent a commode for hygienic reasons. You may want to look into a travel commode like this: https://www.nuprodx.com/product/mc4000tx/
Though, of course it is extra luggage 😢
My husband is a quadriplegic and we travel quite a bit. We have found that the best product for us is something called the shower, buddy Travel chair. We have tried others and found them inadequately supportive or simply too heavy.
here is the link to the company. https://shower-buddy.com/products/eco-traveller-sb7e.

We will be in Japan in one month! We are bringing our Atto mobility scooter. Does anyone know if the local buses that are accessible allow for us to bring it on? My wife can navigate some spaces with canes. Do the busses “kneel”?
Yes, the regular route buses kneel and the driver will provide a ramp for you to get on. (In the city, they are nearly all accessible but as you go to the country, they may still have non-kneeling buses on some routes.)
Inter-city highway buses do not though. 🙁
As for the scooter, maybe @ohayotravel can comment on how is past client faired. In…
