  • Accessible Apartment Stays

Hello, my Japanese wife and I (wheelchair user) have often stayed in universal/accessible hotels. However, we are expecting a newborn and hope to find a bigger place to accommodate a pram, wheelchair, suitcases etc with laundry while we visit her family, like a monthly furnished apartment rental (we’ve seen these are popular for…

    • I know one close to Eda Station (Tokyu Den’entoshi Line) which is 30 min. from Shibuya. The bathroom might not be fully accessible. A friend of mine stayed there for three months. OAK Apartment Eda https://www.oakhouse.jp/eng/apartment/910

      • Thank you for the tip! We will look into this option, the bathroom looks perfect to transfer on to a shower chair. Judging by the contract fee it looks like a longer term rental.

      • Rollin showers

Unfortunately our airline has stuffed up our flights and we urgently need a hotel at Narita or in Tokyo with a roll in shower for this Thursday night 30th October. So far we haven’t found anywhere, any suggestions of places to try would be much appreciated. Thank you, Mary

        • We stayed at hotel metropolitan ikebukuro. I know it’s not close, but if you run out of options…

          • My first night, I stayed at The Mitsui hotel at Haneda airport because we were flying to Hiroshima the next morning. We flew into Japan at Narita and it was about a 45 minute drive between the airports. Large roll in shower.

I’ve ridden it all over Tokyo, including on the metro to Shibuya and it’s so small it doesn’t even need to be folded, you can leave it on the pavement outside shops etc and it’s perfectly safe…

          • Kawagoe Matsuri

Quick report that Kawagoe Matsuri (mid-October) was a great trip yesterday! We walked from Kawagoe station via the shopping street to the main festival area with no issues; do note you may have to access the Shrine from a rear (paved) entrance, under the main gate is gravel. Finding a public bathroom right at one of the major intersections with…
