Wheelchair charger compatibility
Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone here might have experience with this.
I’ll be traveling to Japan soon and I use a Permobil power wheelchair (M Corpus VS) that runs on two 12V AGM batteries (24V system). My current charger is the standard Permobil charger labeled 120V / 50–60Hz / ~340W input, 24V / 10A output.
As I’m preparing for the trip, I…

Thank you. I called US Permobil, they were a little clueless and asked if I asked AI.

But the issue right now…

Hotel or Airbnb or any place to stay in Kyoto
I have a trip to Kyoto planned for March 31-April 4 and the only wheelchair accessible hotel is over $500/night. Can anyone help with reasonable accomodations? I only expect to sleep there and be out and about for the days. I don’t care if it is a bit on the outskirts if there is a subway station with an elevator nearby.
View more commentsWe stayed at Hotel Emion in Kyoto, one local train stop away from Kyoto Station. It was less than $200/night a couple weeks ago. The station has an elevator and wider gate for wheelchair exit/entry. The hotel itself was wheelchair accessible. We stayed (family of 3) in a barrier-free room. You might ask them for pictures of it and see if it…
2Hello.☺️
I completely understand how you feel. However, this time of year is the busiest tourist season in Kyoto. Also, there are still relatively few wheelchair-accessible rooms in Japan. I don’t know which hotel you found, but did you find Granvia Kyoto or Prince Smart Inn Kyoto Sanjo? If you are planning to travel by public transport,…

Travelling around Hokkaido
Any recommendation for wheelchair accessible transport for airport to hotel pickup, point to point or day trips?
While we travelled in Hokkaido, we were able to take regular taxis from the airport – my wheel chair is foldable.
We have hired @ohayotravel for other parts of Japan so I am tagging them here in case they can assist.
Good luck and happy travels!1- View 3 replies
I’m sure there are many accessible taxis available in Hokkaido, but I’m not sure of any specific period. However I know that two of the companies listed here, TokudAw and Welhire, can help arrange taxis in that area as well so you might want to try giving them an… Read more
Sightseeing!
What is the best way to sightsee in the following Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima? Is there accessible tours or can we do it on our own?
View more commentsIt is definitely possible to do on your own. I have been doing that since 2000! That being said it can be a lot more work as you need to research places etc. We have a fair bit on Accessible Japan to get you started and you are more than welcome to ask specific questions here too!
If you feel like you need a bit of help, you can find…
