Accessible Escalator in Japan?!

We have shared on the Accessible Japan website about the incredible escalators in Japan that can carry wheelchairs:  https://www.accessible-japan.com/no-elevator-no-problem/

We even made a video:

But the video only shows going down.

While going down is the scariest part, going up can be a bit scary as well.  In general, I try to avoid using these escalators when possible (sometimes even using a different station for transfers). However, since I was in a rush last night I had no choice.

I will keep trying to avoid these escalators in the future, but I figured I may as well make the most of the opportunity and complete the escalator saga for everyone.

So, without further ado, here is going up:

In addition to being scary, it is a bit embarrassing to have all this attention with a fence and everything… but I’m glad that people came up with this stop-gap way to make older stations wheelchair accessible.

In addition to our main website, Accessible Japan, we will be posting small updates on our blog here at the Accessible Travel Forum.
