Just read it! Excited 😁 visiting the Imperial Palace is one of the things I want to do. I was nervous it wouldn’t be accessible. I also watched some YouTube videos on it and they said it can be difficult to get a tour of the palace because it’s popular. I’m happy to hear that they’re trying to accommodate wheelchairs and making a special tour. Now I have other options if the traditional tour fills up

@ana.e There is an additional tour inside certain areas that aren’t always open, or needs online reservations. That is probably what was on the videos you saw. This tour doesn’t go there, just the main gardens which are always open year-round.

This is great Josh. My wife and I (I am an electric wheelchair user) will be sure to check it out when we visit in October. It does mention that there are “a few small steps…” did you experience this?

@denlyn Where was that mentioned? My guess is at the gates there is a small ridge, but nothing huge…

Thank you. It’s mentioned in their tour description under the heading “Regarding Guide Services” (4th line)

@denlyn Hmmm, the most I saw on the route were no more that 2-3cm. Nothing that would stop a power wheelchair for sure. Now, there are a few places not on the route that have steps (a few sections of the gardens) but the route generally avoids them as they are not necessary.

So glad you tested this Josh. And on a non-accessibility note, we should ALL be better tourists of our own cities!
