Are there laws like the ADA that standardize the rooms, or are they all different?

There is some accessible building legislation in Belgium (per region), but it’s not very ambitious tbh. VisitFlanders uses more, and stricter criteria for its labeling system (https://www.visitflanders.com/en/accessibility/designation-labels/). The information in the brochures is collected by an independent agency and evaluated by experience experts.

Thank you for sharing the brochure!!  It makes me want to visit Flanders.  Do you know where it is possible to rent/buy a handbike that attaches to a wheelchair in Belgium, as in the picture on the cover of the brochure ?

Sorry for the delay, I was out for a couple of days.

There’s a list of accessibility-related publications on https://www.visitflanders.com/en/accessibility/brochures/. In”Accessible daytrips” there are a few places mentioned where you can rent a handbike (just search for ‘handbike’ in the online document).

For the moment, the list still features the 2016 edition, but a little bird told me that an updated version is expected shortly.

There’s a new edition of the accessible holiday accommodation brochures for Flanders and Brussels (2020). Only the most accessible facilities in the region (A or A+ label) were selected for this set of two books. Each accommodation has a full page of description and photographs to make sure one knows exactly what to expect.
