Accessibility at the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland
Was just reading Impact Vacation‘s newsletter and was surprised to see that even wheelchair users can access the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland.
My impression from pictures and videos was that that the hexagonal rocks were off far from the main roads and therefore required a hike to get there.
However, according to Impact Vacations, the UNESCO World Heritage Site is just 15 minutes down a sloping path from the visitor center (which is accessible). Obviously, due to the nature of the formations, wheelchair users and those with limited mobility will not be able to get onto the Giant’s Causeway itself – but it is still possible to get great pictures from the path.
According to the Giant’s Causeway website, the visitor center has accessible parking and accessible toilets (including a Changing Places toilet!) – key required.
